چکیده

In clinical research, the longitudinal data is gaining popularity. A pre-test is used as the baseline to minimize variation cross subjects. The example in this paper will show that repeated measures are taken not only after treatment but also before treatment with uneven time spaces. Two-piecewise random coefficient model is a powerful tool to model trends corresponding to time before and after treatment. The effect of treatment can be investigated by comparing two trends. In PROC MIXED, two-piecewise random coefficient model can be easily accomplished.

A Pragmatic Intent-to-Treat Analysis Using SAS

Intent-to-treat analyses are warranted in clinical trials, which usually contain right-censored data due to treatment failures or dropouts. An explanatory analysis, easily achieved with PROC MIXED, assumes data missing at random, which is not the case in clinical trials since the dropouts are often associated with the treatment assignments (Little and Rubin, 1987). A pragmatic analysis (Hogan a...

Fitting a Multisource Regression Model with Random Slopes, a Fisheries Application of SASTM PROC MIXED

The application of mixed effects linear models continues to grow and the available software is advancing with the methodology. When covariate measurements are made at randomly sampled units: random coefficient models are quite natural for describing the relationship between the response and the predictors. In this very general paper, fitting a multisource regression model in SAS is reviewed. Th...

A Multilevel Model Primer Using SAS PROC MIXED

This paper provides an introduction to specifying multilevel models using PROC MIXED. After a brief introduction to the field of multilevel modeling, users are provided with concrete examples of how PROC MIXED can be used to estimate (a) two-level organizational models, (b) two-level growth models, and (c) three-level organizational models. Both random intercept and random intercept and slope m...

Bivariate linear mixed models using SAS proc MIXED

Bivariate linear mixed models are useful when analyzing longitudinal data of two associated markers. In this paper, we present a bivariate linear mixed model including random effects or first-order auto-regressive process and independent measurement error for both markers. Codes and tricks to fit these models using SAS Proc MIXED are provided. Limitations of this program are discussed and an ex...

An Intermediate Primer to Estimating Linear Multilevel Models using SAS PROC MIXED

This paper expands upon Bell et al.’s (2013) “A Multilevel Model Primer Using SAS PROC MIXED” in which we presented an overview of estimating two and three-level linear models via PROC MIXED. However, in our earlier paper, we, for the most part, relied on simple options available in PROC MIXED. In this paper, we present a more advanced look at common PROC MIXED options used in the analysis of s...
